The trial of a former Plymouth Police Chief is underway in Washington County. Jury selection began Monday morning in the case of John Hamilton Floyd. He is charged with two felony counts of obstruction of justice and solicitation to commit perjury.
The charges are related to a 2004 murder case. Floyd resigned from office after being indicted by a grand jury.
While facing the two felony charges, Floyd has also filed as a candidate for the sheriff's seat in Washington County. He wants to replace Stanley James, who was convicted in January on embezzlement charges.
