The verdict is in for the week-long trial of Kaher Muhammad in Martin County. After three hours of jury deliberations a judge handed down a sentence of life without parole.
Muhammad was sentenced for the first degree shooting death of 67-year old Shelby Tripp Leggett. According to testimony in this weeks trial, Muhammad forced Leggett's car off Highway 125 North on February 8, 2005. Leggett was shot after an argument broke out between Muhammad and Leggett's grandson who was in the back seat with a girlfriend.
