There was never a better time to be a kid than Saturday!
That's because the 2006 Kidsfest took place in the Greenville Convention Center Saturday, and nearly 5,000 people walked through the doors looking for a good time. The event featured over 80 vendors and was about having fun with face painting or balloon animals, to being safe thanks to the police and fire departments on hand. But the event was also about staying fit. With childhood obesity in the national spotlight, organizers wanted this to be a healthy event for our kids.
They actually had the Brody School of Medicine there, doing a pediatric healthy weight management program. They checked body mass indexes. Also other booths gave out healthy snacks created by Pitt County Schools nutritionists.
The event was free to the public for entire families to enjoy thanks to corporate sponsors, and WITN TV was very proud to be one of those sponsors.
