Bio-Terrorism Lab Operational

Pitt County is now home to one of three regional bio-terrorism labs in the state. The Centers for Disease Control just gave its final certification for the lab Friday. That's good news considering the next closet lab is in Raleigh. Up until now, if a suspicious substance needed tested it had to be taken to Raleigh. A state grant of $225,000 helped get the facility off the ground. It's been in the works for a year.
