Bridge Replacement Will Detour Highway 102 For Seven Months

Travelers in one part of Pitt County will have to get use to a detour, thanks to a bridge replacement.

The state Department of Transportation says Highway 102, east of Ayden, will be closed starting March 24th.

The bridge over Fork Swamp Creek was built in 1937. The replacement will cost $847,174.

Highway 102 is expected to be closed until October 20th. A detour will be set up that will take drivers down Ayden Golf Club Road and on County Home Road.
