The Cape Lookout National Seashore is lending a helping hand to an old friend. The 150 year old Cape Lookout Lighthouse has seen its share of hurricanes and beach erosion over time. When it was first built it was well protected from Mother Nature. The Cape Lookout National Seashore plans to keep the lighthouse from toppling into the sea, by dredging the shoreline and adding a 75-foot barrier of sand between the ocean front and the lighthouse.
