Bertie County Schools also gave us this statement about the possible closing of their one and only high school, Bertie High School. We spoke with Gary Cordon, Chairman to the Board of Education, and he was angered by the judges threat.
He said quote, "I don't see how a judge could fit the bill to move students. The state is not giving adequate money to educate the children. We've not gotten the funding from the No Child Left Behind Act. We have a problem here. Give us money. It sounds ridiculous to threaten our schools."
