Ayden police are investigating a crash between a van and a Department of Transportation tractor that happened along Highway 11 South in Pitt County Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the van slammed into the back of the tractor that was working at the time and was traveling at a slow pace. The speed limit along Highway 11 in Ayden is 60 miles per hour.

Police say the driver of the van, the passenger and the driver of the tractor all suffered minor injuries.

Portions of Highway 11 South had to be shutdown to clear the scene.

Did this person come flying up behind the tractor on a blind curve? How can you NOT SEE a slow moving blue tractor.People just need to watch out and be cautious while driving.

I think that tractors have just as much right to be on road as any other vehicle. Eastern NC is a farming region, how can you not permit tractors to travel down the roads wether it is peak hours of the day or not. People need to have enough sense to know that a tractor doesn't travel 60, or 50, or 40mph! When you see a tractor SLOW DOWN, or get over in the other lane. This accident probally happened because someone was in a hurry to get no where and didn't slow down enough to avoid an accident, so for their mistake the accident gets blamed on the tractor and its driver. SOME PEOPLE JUST DONT THINK!!

I dont think that should be allowed to drive down Highway 11. They should only be allowed to cross it but not drive on it. I also think that they should be required to have a vehicle trailing then with hazard lights on.
