Police say neighbors helped catch a man who they say attacked an elderly Rocky Mount woman in her yard last night.
It happened in the 200 block of Clifton Road last night shortly after 7:00 p.m.
Police say the suspect, Keith House, approached 86-year-old Doris Booth and punched her in her face and on her body.
The woman began yelling, catching the attention of several neighbors. The suspect ran off on his bicycle with several residents chasing him.
Officers say they found the 22-year-old House on Forest Hill Avenue with the help of the residents who gave them detailed information on his path of travel.
House was charged with assault inflicting serious injury. He's in the Nash County jail on a $50,000 bond.
The victim, Doris Booth, is in stable condition at Nash General Hospital.

It's a true shame when you aren't safe in your own yard. The neighbors that helped capture the criminal are heroes. Thank you for restoring my faith in the human race.
The group that chased and caught him should have beat him to a senseless, bloody pulp. Let him see how it feels to be hit. Anyway , he will probably jump under the "snuggly feeling blanket" of unspoken criminal civil right, and not recieve a harsh penalty.
Glad some of you managed to say the same as I tried befor the WITN PC police edited my comment.
