A Cherry Point Marine was found dead inside a Craven County residence Friday morning after authorities say he failed to show up for work.
The Marine, whose identity has not yet been released, was a member of Marine Air Support Squadron One and had returned home from Iraq February 13.
The Craven County Sheriff's Department says the Marine was staying with a fellow Marine at Ketner Boulevard near Havelock.
Authorities are currently trying to find the roommate. They say he may have been the last person to see his roommate alive.
Authorities say they plan to release the Marine's name once family has been notified.
