A 2 year old is dead after authorities say he drowned in a pool.

Authorities say, a 911 call came in on Saturday night, that a child at 3396 East Railroad Boulevard in Newport, Carteret County had drown.

Details are still emerging but they say CPR was performed on the scene and that the child was taken to Carteret General Hospital, just after 7PM Saturday.

I can not believe that someone said that the parents need to be charged for leaving the child unsupervised when the article never said that the child was left unsupervised. You know Mike, accidents do happen and kids do slip away quick so why be so quick to judge with no more info than is in the above article? I hope that you never have to experience anything like this.

for those who feel the need to judge others on something like this really blows my mind. I am a mother of 3 and on june 19 my 19 month old slipped by us in one second and fell in our pool when we found him he was unresponsive my husband performed CPR and from there he went to pitt he is happy and healthy today thanks to god. and I know first hand how fast kids can be. so as far as you Mike from Edenton you should keep your mouth shut and remember no one is perfect and just pray that one day a horrible tragedy doesnt hit you cause to judge those parents is the last thing anyone should do. I am 110% positive they loved there baby and never meant for this to happen. Shame on you people. get a life and grow up. take time to thank god you are still breathing to judge people who should not be judged.

I am sorry to hear this, but to anonymous from Columbus: Why is it directed to the mother specifically? Do the father not play a role in helping raise kids these days? I hate that the baby had to leave the world like it did but like any other accident--it was an accident, they are not planned. Lets pray for the parents and loved ones of the baby and if any funny business comes from this, then whomever will have their time to speak and be heard. I just hope that it doesnt come up as fowl play

I happened to be in the hospital that night,, these parents were very distraught, and very upset, no one should be making any assumptions as to why this child died. accidents do happen. a child wondering on the road is a totally different thing. what if it were your child that had drowned and you were reading this online, how would you feel? If it were me I would be devastated, People like Mike in Edenton and the one from colombus should keep the comments to yourself.

We can all make negative comments....but accidents do happen. We can't punish these parents anymore than they are already doing themselves. Pray for the family...it might happen to us one day.

As tragic as this is the parents need to be charged. At 2 years old kids should never be unsupervised, even when a pool is not available.

I hope that WITN does an update to this article when they get more information on what happened. I will wait to see if more information comes available before I make my comment.

Now I hope I am not jumping to conclusion, but why are these kids keep coming up unsupervise. we just had two to die in a car, unsupervise, one wondering down a rode, unsupervise, now one drown, unsupervise, it sure sound like a these women maybe into something other than their children, or maybe they just forget they hsve children to care for on certain days.
