North Carolina's Senate President Pro Tem is running for another term.
Democratic State Senator Marc Basnight officially filed to run for re-election Friday in Manteo. Basnight will attempt to claim a twelfth term serving in the state's general assembly. Even though he's served eleven terms, he's not expecting to win without a fight. Basnight says," Because it makes for a better candidate, the more people that run for political office, the better we are as a country, a state, or a community. I encourage involvement, I encourage running. This is not my seat, it is the people's seat." So far no Democrats have filed for the senate seat. One Republican has though.
