A human smuggling plot was broken up in Nash County. Authorities set up roadblocks along Interstate 95 early Monday morning after a tip from police in Arlington, Virginia. Police there said a woman was being transported through North Carolina in a van for ransom. Sergeant Keith Stone says it appears the woman was taken because her family couldn't pay a fee to illegally smuggle her into the United States. Five others were found in the van, along with the victim. All of them are now in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs officials.
