Students and staff at the new Manteo Middle School dished out some special proceeds to help stock pottery to fill hungry bellies on the Outer Banks.
Teachers and kids worked in waves this winter, firing up handmade bowls to sell at the school's annual empty bowls fundraiser. The community came out in large numbers to browse the collection and buy the limited edition works of clay. Despite all the million dollar cottages, and commercial tourism trade of our coast, one teacher wants to pass on the important message of service to her students.
There was also a silent auction of donated items from the community.
