Warm Weather Wreaking Havoc on Plants

The calendar says it's the middle of February, but outside it feels like spring. The warm temperatures this time of year are causing some plants to bloom earlier than expected. Plants like the Star Magnolia are already full of buds. Some of the buds are healthy, while others are already damaged due to the drastic drop in temperatures last week. Richard Harrington, owner of a Sunshine Gardens Exteriors says another deep freeze can severely affect buds that are about to bloom. Harrington suggests you cover your plants in burlap in the event of another deep freeze. He says never use plastic because it holds in heat which will burn your plants.
