Some immigrants became U.S. citizens on Independence Day.
A naturalization ceremony was held at Harmony Hall in Kinston Friday to grant U.S. citizenship to 27 people from several different countries.
Several people were on hand to watch the candidates get their citizenship. The candidates were from Russia, Kenya, Mexico, and several other countries. Congressman Walter Jones was also on hand to speak to the new citizens.
The new citizens received a pin and an American flag to celebrate.
