It was graduation day Wednesday at Craven Correctional Institution. Those with cap and gown were dogs.
After eight weeks of training, four dogs graduated and showed off their skills. The inmates have been working with the dogs so they'll be able to be placed in a home.
Without the training the dogs would likely have been put to sleep. While the program gives the dogs a new leash on life, it also gives the inmates a sense pride and responsibility.
