The Beaufort County Sheriff's Department is cracking down on drug dealers in a big way. Since the beginning of the year, the department's narcotics division has tripled their drug arrests. In the last two weeks alone the department has seized over 52 pounds of marijuana and a kilo of cocaine. Sheriff Alan Jordan says county commissioners gave the department extra money to buy a drug sniffing dog, and double the number of narcotics officers on the street. Sheriff Jordan thinks the effort is working. The sheriff says in one earlier case, officers recovered over one-and-a-half million dollars in money and illegal drugs.
