Carolina Paper Runs Their Own Islamic Cartoon, Angers Some

The issue over a cartoon drawing of depicting the Prophet Muhammed, has also angered some students in the Tarheel State.

At the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, The Muslim Students Association is asking the campus' student newspaper to apologize for publishing an artists take on the prophetic cartoon. The caricatures of Muhammad, first appeared in Europe by have sent out ripples of emotion from there citing riots and protests.

The Daily Tar Heel published the cartoon Friday, which was drawn by a cartoonist at the paper. The Daily Tar Heel editor says the newspaper wanted to increase awareness, and challenge fellow students to think about the issue.
