War On Terror Sparks Growth Of North Carolina Company

A contract security company whose fortunes have grown since the start of the U.S. war on terror has won permission to expand its North Carolina base. Blackwater U.S.A. overcame opposition from residents of Currituck County, who worry a huge new firing range would hurt home prices and endanger neighbors. The board of commissioners voted 3-2 to allow the expansion. Those plans include classrooms, a four-thousand-square-foot bunkhouse, and a firing range with more than 500 firing lanes.
