A new program at hospitals across our state, and right here in Eastern Carolina, is aimed at helping heart attack patients. The message at a press conference held at Pitt County Memorial Hospital is that time is of the essence. That's why the hospital is participating in the RACE program, which stands for Reperfusion of Acute MI in Carolina Emergency. The program focuses on streamlining the transfer, check-in and referral service for heart attack patients at Pitt as well as none other hospitals across the East.
