A 14-year-old and a pickup truck collided in Pitt County around 5 p.m. Friday evening. Officials say the truck and the teen were coming in opposite directions around a corner in River Creek subdivision when the front passenger side of the truck met with the motorcycle. The boy was airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital around 5:30 Friday night. Lawmen are unsure if charges will be filed against the driver. The victim's father tells WITN the boy, Montrell Washington, an 8th grade student at Pactolus Elementary, had just received the bike as a gift from his mother. The father also says at last check, doctors told him Montrell had a broken leg and possibly some internal injuries.
