Three people were killed and two injured following a head on collision Wednesday between an empty logging truck and a minivan just outside of Ayden in Pitt County. Authorities say the accident happened after the minivan, driven by 29-year-old Misty Horne Oshea of Ayden crossed the center line into the path of the oncoming truck. Oshea and her two sons, 13-year-old Jeremy Horne and 8-year-old Timothy James Oshea Junior, were all killed. The lone survivor from the van was 11-year-old Casey Smith. She was airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital, and treated for a broken arm. The driver of the truck is identified as 42-year-old Michael Glenn Cannon of Grimesland. He too was taken Pitt County Memorial with non-life threatening injuries. Authorities say he tried to avoid the minivan before they crashed.
