Eastern Carolina Remembers Coretta Scott King

Tuesday morning, Americans woke up to the sad news that 78-year-old Coretta Scott King, the wife of slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, died during the night. The news hit hard right here in Eastern North Carolina where King has thousands of supporters. East Carolina University professor of African American History David Dennard says the country not only lost a great civil rights leader, but a great advocate for peaceful non-violent social change. King had suffered a serious stroke and heart attack last August. She was in Mexico exploring alternative treatments for ovarian cancer when she died.
