A new district attorney will be taking over the cases in some Eastern Carolina counties. State Senator Scott Thomas, who recently gave up his seat, will be sworn in Monday as D.A. for Craven, Carteret and Pamlico Counties. Governor Easley named him to fill the post for the retiring David McFadyen. Besides being in the Senate, Thomas has also been both a defense attorney and a prosecutor. Thomas says he plans to run next November when his appointment runs out.
