We continue taking a look now at scams making their way across Eastern Carolina. Financial crime experts say Nigerian scams, which have been around since the 1980s, continue catching people in Eastern Carolina off guard. Authorities seem to think it's because scammers are getting more skilled at fooling you into thinking the scam is for real. The most popular scams involve foreign lotteries. Scam artists are also sending out entry forms for these so-called lotteries to hook you more effectively.
