Beaufort and Washington Counties have some more support in their fight against an outlying landing field. In all, 18 counties signed the "North Carolinians Opposed to an O.L.F." resolution asking the Navy to include more alternative sites in their court ordered environmental impact study. Also, "No O.L.F." chapters have been formed in Nash, Edgecombe and Wilson Counties. The group says they recognize the importance of an O.L.F. to the state, but believe a landing field would be more economically beneficial in counties like Craven, Jones and Carteret.
