NC 33 Closing Monday in Chocowinity

Get ready for a detour if your driving on Highway 33 in Beaufort County. Its closing Monday. Department of Transportation officials say only a small stretch of the road will be closed beginning Monday, stretching from the Family Dollar to Taylor Road near the Food Pride store. Its all part of the Governor's Moving Ahead Improvements Program. The road should be closed for around 3 weeks, possibly four at the most according to highway management. The detour is said to be around two and a half miles long starting at Taylor Road to Carol Road. Later in the year officials say the road will also be widened.
