A former school teacher in the East took the stand at her own trial Friday, and testified she did not have sex or a relationship with one of her students. A packed courtroom, witnesses, students, family members and of course, the judge and jury listened Friday to hours of in-depth questioning from the defense and prosecutors. Katherine Tew, a former South Central High School teacher, is accused of having sex with one of her students last year. Tew took the stand around 11:00 Friday morning emphatically denying the charges against her. Her husband also testified Friday about the state of their marriage around the time of this alleged incident. Closing arguments are scheduled for Monday. Because Tew does not have any prior convictions, she may not have to serve time if convicted of either of the felony charges she faces. She could receive probation.
