They don't wear capes or masks, but rather a helmet and fire retardant suit, and every once in a while, firefighters must perform death defying acts to save lives. Just this past Sunday night, Billy Civils, a volunteer fireman in Pitt County, rushed into a burning mobile home and saved the life of an elderly woman. Fire officials say the woman was unable to move in her bed and could not escape the flames that engulfed her home. Amazingly, Civils before any fire trucks were on the scene, single handedly went into the home and saved her from the flames. Emergency officials are not releasing the woman's name, but did tell us she's recovering at the Chapel Hill Burn Center.
