Remembering Martin Luther King

Folks in Greenville celebrating the life of Doctor Martin Luther King Junior say there is much that still needs to be done. They say all of Fifth Street needs to be renamed to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. At a march and rally to the Pitt County Courthouse steps many residents spoke out against having only a section of the road named after the slain civil rights leader. Members of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and NAACP are calling for the city to act. Greenville mayor Don Parrott says naming only part of Fifth Street after King was agreed to by all sides in 1998. He says renaming part of the street in no way diminishes Dr. King's importance.
