Temperatures Help With Utility Bill for Now

The mild temperatures Eastern Carolina is experiencing mean a break on the utility bills. But you may be in for a shock once the weather gets colder and stays colder. According to the State Utilities Commission power companies have increased rates anywhere from one to 11-percent or higher. Natural gas companies have raised their prices an average of 22-percent across the board. Greenville Utility officials say the increases are hitting the power companies too because they have to pay more to get the power. That means increases are often passed onto consumers.
