A Greenville man spent the night in jail after being arrested on charges he had cocaine near a school.

Jailers at the Pitt County Detention Center say 46-year-old Alton Freeman of Greenville was arrested by police around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Freeman is now facing three drug charges: possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, having that cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Freeman's bond was set at $100,000 ahead of his first court appearance, scheduled for Wednesday morning.
