Two Charged With Human Trafficking In Jacksonville

A Cumberland County man and woman are charged with human trafficking after prostitution complaints at a Jacksonville hotel.

Jacksonville police say they got the call Sunday afternoon to the Baymont Inn on Western Boulevard.

While speaking with guests, officers say they saw marijuana in a room and detained several people. They eventually found cocaine and heroin as well.

Officers say they found a woman who told them she was forced to travel from Cumberland County to Jacksonville and held in sexual servitude.

Robin Applewhite and Samantha Rivard, both of Hope Hills, are now facing multiple charges, including human trafficking of an adult and various drug charges.

Bond for Applewhite was set at $800,000 while Rivard is being held on a $700,000 bond.

The victim is being helped by Jacksonville police's Victim's Advocacy Program.
