Havelock Woman Killed In Weekend Crash

A Havelock woman was killed after troopers say she pulled out in front of an oncoming vehicle this weekend.

The accident happened just before 4:00 p.m.Saturday at the intersection of Stately Pines Road and U.S. 70.

Troopers say 71-year-old Veronica Fennell was on Stately Pines and had stopped at the stop sign, but the woman failed to yield the right of way while attempting to make a left onto U.S. 70.

Jaelah Hicks of New Bern was westbound on 70 and her vehicle struck Fennell's vehicle on the driver's side.

Hicks and the children in her vehicle were take to CarolinaEast Medical Center where they were treated and released.
