Due to the drinking water restrictions announced by the Greenville Utilities Commission and the suspension of food preparation permits by the Pitt County Health Department and Environmental Health Services Department, the Pitt County School system announces the following closings for Thursday and Friday:
All summer programs are cancelled for Thursday and Friday for all Pitt County Schools. This includes students and staff members involved in any special programs including athletics, summer remediation, summer feeding programs, summer camps, driver's education, etc.
All 11-month and 12-month employees are expected to report to work as normal and are asked to bring bottled water for drinking purposes.
High School Summer School registration will continue to be offered at all six high schools on June 26, 2008 from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Make-ups for grades 3-8 Summer Academy will be held on Tuesday, July 1 and Wednesday, July 2, 2008.

I was wondering, since the ban has been lifted will summer academy still be delayed until July 1st & 2nd. Or will it be held on Friday?
I'm with "Mom" above. Pitt county is a large area. There is no clear report on exactly where the boundries are for the contaminated water. I'm on Town of Winterville Public Works water, is this water supply safe? Please help clear confusion for Pitt communities not supplied by GUC.
Editor - can you create a map of areas affected and areas NOT affected? We get water from SRWC (Stokes Regional Water Corp.) but have no idea if they get water from GUC and re-sell it as is.
