Superior Judge Clifton Everett Dies

A Superior Court judge who late last year retired from hearing cases full-time has died.

The Pitt County District Attorney's Office confirms that Judge Clifton Everett passed away around 5:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Everett retired on December 28th, but was appointed by the governor as an emergency Superior Court judge. Judge Marvin Blount was appointed to replace him on the bench.

Visitation for Judge Everett will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home, while his funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church in Greenville.
