A 16-year-old has been arrested for an early morning Independence Day shooting in Greenville.

Tyquail Matthews was already in the Pitt County Detention Center when he was charged Thursday night with attempted first degree murder, robbery, and first degree burglary for the July Fourth shooting on Battle Street in Greenville.

Police say he robbed and shot 42-year-old Maurice Barnes at his home.

Matthews bond is set at a million dollars.
