Snake To Blame For Greenville Power Outage

By  |

Greenville Utilities Commission says a corn snake was to blame for more than 1,200 customers losing power overnight in Greenville.

GUC says the 6-foot snake slithered between two insulators at a location near Brook Valley.

Workers say those insulators keep fuses from touching, but with the snake between two insulators, that barrier was essentially broken. GUC says the snake served as a conduit to electricity and blew the insulators.

The fried equipment knocked out power to 1,263 customers between 12:48 and 1:41 Tuesday morning, according to GUC.
