As many of us get rid of debt or weight for our New Years resolutions, some could get rid of their old technology Saturday in Greenville.
It was all part of a massive recycling effort to get hazardous technology out of our local landfills. The drive kicked off Saturday morning at 8 a.m., and went until 3 in the afternoon behind the Colonial Mall in Greenville, and hundreds opted to get rid of their out of date devices. But officials say its more than just recycling, these devices are big problems at our dumps because they can leak chemicals like lead and mercury into our ground water.
Officials say everything will be recycled from the plastic casings, to the glass monitors.
