Get ready for higher cable bills in 2006. The cable t-v sales tax will go up from five-percent to seven-percent in the new year. That's among the 37 new laws set to take effect on January, 1st. Some of the other laws include a measure mandating all voting systems produce a paper ballot, and a coastal recreational fishing license. The license won't take effect until January 1, 2007. However, people holding a lifetime sportsman's license purchased before then will be exempt. Also, more Eastern Carolina motorists will be paying more for a vehicle inspection in the new year. It's part of a law expanding emissions testing from 28 counties to five more, including Carteret, Craven, and Onslow. For a complete list of all the new laws just click on the following link.
