One year ago Tuesday, in the middle of the night during a blinding snowstorm, Madison Sneed of Grimesland forced her way into the world. Madison was born on Highway 264 inside of her parents’ sports utility vehicle.
Jerry and Jennifer were racing from their home to Pitt County Memorial Hospital just after her labor pains started when they had to pull over and deliver the baby. After Madison was born, she quickly became known as her family's "Christmas Snow Angel."
Madison's birth comes several months after the Sneeds lost their son "D.J.," who died in a car accident on that same stretch of road nearly a year earlier. The Sneeds quietly celebrated Madison's birthday, as they also remembered their son "D.J."
