Federal officials have been grappling with the idea of raising the current minimum wage rate of $5.15 an hour to $6.15 an hour. Hourly workers like Annquan Arrington say they are getting left behind and their wallets are getting thinner. To date, 17 states have minimum wages higher than the federal rate of $5.15 an hour. The North Carolina General Assembly goes back into session in May to address changing minimum wage.
