Many of You Will See an Increase in Your Utility Bill

The Greenville Utilities Commission is feeling the pinch now that they're purchasing electric power at a much higher cost, and those extra charges will be passed on to their customers. The increase is due to the rising cost of fuel prices, particularly natural gas which is used to generate electric power. GUC's public information officer Sue Hatch says the utilities commission is being charged 10.2 percent more per kilowatt hour on the wholesale price sold to them by the North Carolina Eastern Municipal Power Agency. Customers will see an increase beginning January 1.
