If winter precipitation makes its way into the area this weekend, road crews are ready.
The Department of Transportation facility in Pitt County will soon start to prepare their salt spreading trucks. Pitt County maintenance engineer William Kincannon says with 700 tons of salt at their disposal, they will hit the roads at least five hours ahead of the impending storm.
Kincannon says while employees drive around to keep track of the conditions, they will also pre-treat several bridges and overpasses with salt in the county.
