Stanley James, the former Washington County sheriff, accused of embezzlement was in superior court Friday in Greenville. According to the district attorney's office, James released his former attorney Harold Blizzard on Monday and hired high profile civil rights attorney Julius Chambers out of Charlotte. Chambers filed a motion to have James' trial on Monday continued. He was denied. James was removed from office in August of last year after a grand jury indicted the former sheriff on embezzlement, obstructing justice and conspiracy charges.
