Investigators are calling it the biggest single drug bust ever in Beaufort County. Lawmen say a month-long investigation netted serious amounts of drugs and money. Four kilograms, that's over 10 pounds, of cocaine with an estimated street value of $800,000 and nearly $38,000 in cash were confiscated by drug investigators at 302 Meredith Road in Washington.
Officials say the sheriff's canine Ronnie found the drugs buried under a bathtub. Investigators arrested and charged Luis Valverde, Juan Noris, Julio Valdez, Lucas Garcia and Elvia Carmone.
Valverde and Noris are charged with trafficking cocaine after lawmen found one kilo of cocaine in their Winterville home. Investigators say information from that arrest led them to the others.
This investigation led lawmen to Pitt County Thursday night where another kilo of cocaine was seized and additional suspects have been taken into custody.
