Harkers Island residents are getting ready for this weekend's annual "Waterfowl Weekend And Core Sound Decoy Festival."
Organizers say the festival is a celebration of not only waterfowl, but the heritage of Down East.
Karen Amspacher, director of the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum and Heritage Center, says thousands of people come each year from all over the country to see the carvings which are actually memories in wood.
The waterfowl weekend takes place at the museum and the decoy festival takes place at the Harkers Island School.
