Swansboro's Fire Chief Bob Penrod handed in his resignation Thursday. Town Manager David Harvell forwarded WITN Penrod's resignation letter which you can see via the link above. In the letter, Penrod says it has been an honor to serve the past six years a chief in a part-time capacity. He says with his personal obligations, the demands of the fire department are more than he can offer. His resignation is effective Friday.

The town manager did not say who would replace Penrod.

According to the Town of Swansboro website the fire department's personnel resources include 2 full-time paid firefighters, 7 part-time paid firefighters, and 20 volunteer firefighters.
