Safe Turkey Cooking


One thing sure to ruin a holiday meal is food poisoning. Health and medical experts strongly urge anyone planning to cook a holiday meal to make sure they clean and cook food thoroughly. Raw meat like poultry can contain different types of bacteria. Virginia Spencer, director of wellness programming at the Viquest Center in Greenville says if you cook the turkey to 165 degrees you should be okay as far as killing those bacterium. Spencer also says to prevent bacteria from spreading, clean all items like cutting boards, pot holders, and other cooking supplies immediately in hot soapy water.
